Karl Bushby is making news these days as a British citizen, former paratrooper, who is attempting to be the first person to walk an unbroken path around the world. His journey is called the Goliath Expedition and part of it is happening right here in the good ole USA.

Stumbling Blocks Along the Way

The journey hasn’t been all smooth sailing. There have been more than a few obstacles to overcome. One of his biggest obstacles in completing his journey around the world, is that he
been denied entrance into Russia.

In fact, his 3,000 mile journey began in Los Angeles and will end in Washington, D.C. where he hopes to plead his case for entrance into Russia at the Russian Embassy.

He is currently banned from entering Russia, though, according to the Daily Mail no explanation has been provided for the reason of the ban. Mr. Bushby believes it may stem from a possible accidental crossing into Siberia.

Highlights of the Journey thus Far

So far there have been high and low points along the way. Many of them are listed on the Daily Mail article where Bushby talks about the best of his trip being large and small things, including all of the following at some point along the way.

• Falling in love.
• Not getting shot at by guerrilla armies.
• Finding cold water.
• Getting a nice hot cup of coffee.

While getting his heart broken is one of the worst events to happen on this journey, other things complete the top of his list, such as missing destination goals, getting his stuff stolen, mosquitoes, and being banned entrance to a foreign country. It’s not slowing his efforts down
however.

Following Along from Home

One really amazing thing technology allows is the ability to track his travels through GPS tracking technology. In fact, Karl Bushby is using a personal tracking device by LiveViewGPS.

At his personal website, Bushby3000.com, You can see what he’s seeing and walk right along beside him in spirit, even though you can’t walk by his side in the flesh.

While some might find it a bit odd to take a trip across the world, and it certainly hasn’t been easy, he set out to do just that at the age of 29 (November 1 of 1998). Since then he has traveled 20,000 of the 36,000 miles it will take to complete the journey. His commitment to himself is that he cannot use any form of transportation to advance and that he cannot go home until he arrives on foot.

Follow along with the rest of the world as he attempts to make history and realize his dream. This amazing journey is one worth watching and modern technology, thanks to GPS tracking, makes it possible for all to share in the highs and lows right along with him.
