When you’re in the business of air duct cleaning, you sometimes have time-sensitive runs to make – especially when you’re gearing up for busy summer and winter seasons. GPS fleet tracking can help you keep track of your vehicles and so much more – even when business is booming. These are just a few of the ways your air duct cleaning company can benefit from GPS fleet tracking.
Cut Operating Expenses
By scheduling more efficient routes, monitoring your vehicles more carefully, and keeping your drivers on task and on target, you’re cutting costs – in bigger ways than you may realize. You’ll notice that not only are your fuel costs each month going down, but you can also reduce your insurance costs and your labor costs with effective GPS fleet tracking.
That doesn’t even take into account the long-term savings you can enjoy as a result of scheduling maintenance to decrease vehicle breakdowns and extend the life, fuel efficiency, and usefulness of your fleet vehicles.
Enjoy Greater Customer Satisfaction
Satisfied customers are repeat customers. How do you make them happy? In the service industry, you give them narrow service windows or appointment times and you show up to clean their air ducts when you say you will. GPS tracking allows you to provide more accurate time estimates and helps drivers avoid unnecessary delays that might otherwise delay their arrival.
It also helps you to make sure your drivers are where they’re supposed to be and not taking care of personal business on company time – business that would otherwise cause delays to the appointment schedule. GPS routing also ensures that no customers gets missed on your daily schedules which means you won’t have dissatisfied customers because of work orders or invoices getting lost in the shuffle, which can happen with traditional routing methods.
Allows You to Track Drivers More Effectively
Keeping your drivers on task and on target is difficult without GPS fleet tracking. You can’t follow them around all day to make sure they’re driving safely, not taking care of personal errands, going off-route, or earning a little extra on your dime (and in your vehicles during the day). GPS fleet tracking allows you to monitor all these things and more.
You can use GPS fleet tracking to notify you if air duct cleaning trucks make unexpected stops, detour from their prescribed routes, are operational after hours, and even if they engage in reckless driving activities such as speeding, hard braking, swerving, and aggressive actions like weaving in and out of traffic. These things can help you keep your drivers on their toes and under control – even when you’re not looking over their shoulders.
With so many ways to benefit from GPS fleet tracking the big question to ask yourself is why haven’t you used GPS tracking for your air duct cleaning business before now?
Here at LiveViewGPS, we can help answer that question and other questions about how your air duct cleaning company can benefit from GPS fleet tracking. Give us a call at 1-888-544-0494 today!
GPS Tracking for Toolboxes
29 Dec 2017In certain businesses and industry, your tools are essential. You can’t do the work without them. They also happen to be an incredible expense for most businesses – especially when they have a tendency to walk off the job site far too often.
Not only do they walk off in the hands of thieves, but sometimes on the belts or in the pockets of workers who’ve forgotten they’re wearing them and unintentionally gone home with them. In some cases, they may have been taken intentionally, unfortunately.
It’s a clever idea to create a plan of action to protect your investment in costly business tools so that you can enjoy a much brighter bottom line without the need to consistently replace some of your more expensive tools. These are a few things you can do that will help make a difference.
Imprint Your Tools
Whether you choose to imprint them with the company logo, business name, or simply sketch your name into the tools with an etching tool, you can make sure that whomever walks off with them (if accidentally) knows where to return them and you’ve made them identifiable as your tools if someone steals them. This makes them less attractive to thieves looking to make a quick buck by selling them.
Keep them Locked Up
Locking your tools safely in a chest or box and having workers check them out (and responsible for returning them) can help you keep better track of your inventory of tools. It will take a little time for everyone to get accustomed to this practice but can save you many headaches and hassles in the future.
Use GPS Tracking for Your Most Expensive Tools
GPS tracking allows you to identify the precise location of the costly tools you are most interested in tracking. This means you can find them quickly and get back to work – even if the tools are simply misplaced somewhere on the worksite. Whatever tools you deem costly investments can be an excellent candidate for GPS tracking, including:
- Press Tools
- Automatic Levels
- Drill Drivers
- Reciprocating Saws
It really doesn’t even matter if the tool is expensive, if it is an essential tool that will cost your business money and time to replace if the tool is missing. Using GPS tracking for your tools isn’t only about preventing theft – or even accidental theft by employees – but can also be about making the work flow more efficiently too. This allows you to make more money in less time and spend less replacing lost, stolen, or misplaced tools.
It might surprise you to learn that many species of animal have breathtaking migration routes. They travel over borders with many visiting places that are many hundreds or even thousands of miles away.
The animated video illustrates the migration routes for around 150 species. More than 11,000 researchers throughout the world have added their GPS tracking data to the project. The pink lines combine approximately 8,000 tracks collected over a 10-year time span. These follow the movements of the tracked animals and cover around 310 miles in one direction for 45 days minimum. Lines extend from Canada to the United States, from Africa to Europe and vice versa.
GPS tracking devices have been long used by scientists to find out how animals migrate across continents and oceans. They’re also employed to study how animals move within their own local regions. In the past, scientists achieved this through the use of radio transmitters or by ‘banding’ a bird’s leg. Today’s tags and trackers are far more sophisticated than those of the past. They employ GPS and satellites to track data down to the last second. Researchers use this information in a variety of ways. It can, for example, enable us to learn more about habitat fragmentation, how animals hunt and how they respond to climate change.
The globe uses data compiled by Argos Doppler, electronic tags that relay signals to polar-orbiting satellites and GPS. The data is publicly available on Movebank, The Max Planck Institute for Ornithology, free, online animal-tracking database.
The majority of the 150 species in the animation are birds. For instance, at approximately 00:57 in the animation, there’s a large migration of animals from Europe to Africa. The animals in question are white storks who prefer to spend the winter in a warm climate.
Migration is almost universal in the animal kingdom. They’re driven by one simple fact. Earth’s resources fluctuate. Food may be freely available in the warmer months. However, only for a short time. Migration patterns vary and are complex. GPS tracking data is finally giving us an insight into the incredible journeys animals make in order to survive. Take a look at the video above for more details.
