Researchers successfully collared 16 snow leopards with GPS trackers and were able to gain insight on how they lived and the fact they require a lot of land. There were previous studies conducted of these big cats that tracked them using VHF radio. But, scientists were only able to collect data if they were able to keep up with the leopards on foot.
These beautiful and rare snow leopards live in Central Asia in the mountains. They have thick hair that insulates their bodies and their wide feet covered in fur work like natural snowshoes.
