Stolen Big Rig Found Via GPS Tracking
31 Jan 2017San Bernardino County Deputies finally took a driver into custody who stole a big rig following a short pursuit through the Victor Valley.
The big rig was equipped with a GPS tracking device that helped the sheriff’s deputies locate and find the driver. The tracking device was activated in the evening near Highway 395 in Hesperia.
Victorville deputies were able to track and pinpoint the direction and speeds of the big rig thanks to the technology and see when it stopped at Phelan Road and Sheep Creek Road.
The driver continued northbound on Sheep Creek Road with the deputy cruisers following behind him closely until he veered off into a dirt berm.
After the mound of dirt stopped the truck in its path, the driver fled into a desert that was near Duncan Road on foot where authorities say he was finally taken into custody.
Later on they contacted the owner of the rig to inform him they located his eighteen-wheeler. The owner lives in Murrieta.
