Poachers Beware – GPS Trackers Implanted In Rhinos Horns
24 May 2011Rhino’s in South Africa’s Mafikeng Game Reserve have been outfitted with gps tracking devices. In an effort to combat poaching, game wardens now have a hi-tech tool to combat rouge rhino killers. The gps tracking devices are programmed to alert personnel when the Rhino’s start running, or are laying down in the same position for an extended period of time.
Thousands of rhino’s are senselessly killed each year – their horn’s are sold across Asia for medicinal purposes. We applaud reserve officials, who are using technology to catch criminals.
