You may have heard that car thefts are on the rise, but did you know thefts of Kia and Hyundai models specifically are skyrocketing?

The Cook County sheriff in Chicago alone reported that there were 74 thefts of Kia and Hyundai vehicles in July and August of last year, this year there have been already 642 Kia and Hyundai thefts, a major increase of 767%.

According to a recent report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NCIB), motorcycle thefts have been on the rise for two years in a row. Compared to 2019, motorcycle thefts were up 26% in 2021. According to the recent annual auto theft report by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), Ford and Chevrolet pick-up trucks are the most stolen vehicle two years in a row. The GMC full-size pick-up truck also made the top ten list in their report for most stolen vehicles.

Roughly one in seven passenger vehicles stolen were Ford, Chevrolet, or GMC full-size pick up trucks. In addition, theft of passenger vehicles was up 8% in 2021 compared to the previous year.
