When you’re quickly running into your home to pick up something you’ve forgotten, or are grabbing a quick coffee, you might think it’s OK to leave your keys in your unlocked car for five minutes.
However, a recent report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) has essentially stated otherwise. The number of these so-called “freebie” vehicle thefts was up 22 percent to 57,096 in 2015.

The largest land crab in the world, the coconut crab (Birgus latro), can weigh in excess of nearly nine pounds, and can span as wide as one yard (or 36 inches) across. Once commonly found throughout various tropical Indo-Pacific islands, numbers are rapidly declining due to habitat destruction, and overhunting.

This is as a result of a deficit in monitoring and research, and is now something being worked on by a team of researchers.
The team who have travelled to Palmyra Atoll, 1,000 miles south of Hawaii, hopes to ascertain the answers to questions such as: Read the rest of this entry »
