Tustin, California police have used GPS tracking devices to help them arrest over 100 suspects. Thanks to GPS tracking, they have now been able to use it on pharmaceutical thefts as well.

This year, there has been a series of pharmacy thefts and police were able to catch a couple men who were suspects of these burglaries. They were able to catch the thieves after a GPS tracking device was placed inside a cough syrup bottle.

In the first quarter of 2016, FreightWatch International logistics security service provider reported that there was an increase in U.S. truck cargo theft, but with a decline in the value of each theft. The report showed a 13 percent increase (221) in cargo thefts of the 2015 fourth quarter which indicated it was up 8 percent from the previous year’s first quarter. The average loss value of each theft, however, decreased over 13 percent ($112.467) from the quarter previously as well as a 56 percent decrease from one year before that.

Although robotic vessels and underwater drones have helped scientists with exploring the ocean, whales have now been used for learning with the help of GPS trackers. Oregon State University has shown this with their new tracking system.

Thanks to their new Advanced Dive Behavior (ABU) tag, they are able to track whales and transmit data every second for up to seven weeks at a time.

At a Portland Land Rover dealership located on Northeast Grand Avenue, crooks made off with a few luxury, brand new sport utility vehicles.

One of the Range Rovers that was stolen was found by employees by the end of the day. They said it was located a block away from the dealership, parked with a ticket on its windshield.

Earlier that morning, Portland police came to the Northeast Grand Avenue Land Rover Portland dealership because of the high-end heist.

Apparently, the burglars broke into the showroom and drove off with around 5 of the vehicles, according to employees.

No comment was made by Land Rover Portland. Each Range Rover was worth over $100,000 at their site, according to the dealership’s website. Read the rest of this entry »
