New South Wales Tracking Trash Campaign

The “Hey Tosser!” campaign is being launched in Australia later on this week where Australian politician Gareth Ward will toss a handful of bottles into Mullet Creek. For this campaign, 40 plastic bottles being tracked by GPS trackers will be tossed into lakes, rivers and harbors all over the state by the NSW Environment Protection Authority in the hopes of demonstrating how litter travels after it’s made its way into the waterways.
A lot of community members don’t realize exactly where litter goes after they toss it at bus stops, on the streets, and on the beaches and highways. IRS Reduces Business Mileage Reimbursement Rate

Businesses, particularly those with fleets that spend a lot of time on the road these days, could see an increase in automotive related expenses no thanks to a decrease, or reduction, in the business mileage reduction rate the IRS allows for 2017.
The IRS changes for 2017 taxes involve mileage rates as they related to business mileage, medical purposes, and moving purposes. The standard deduction rate for business mileage in cars, vans, pickup trucks, panel trucks, etc. is 54 cents per mile for 2016 taxes. Those rates will decrease to 53.5 cents per mile for 2017. As the local police officer shortage shows no sign of easing, Albuquerque people and businesses are taking the role of policing into their own hands.
When opportunist thieves struck on Papagayo Road during the construction of a new home, they no doubt believed that stealing from the property would be easy. Shortly before this, thieves had broken into one of the Abrazo Homes new houses, stealing $4,000 worth of new cabinets.
In fact, vandalism and burglary have become a real issue in the area, with some houses being repeatedly burgled.
What these burglars didn’t bet on, however, was the fact that Abrazo Homes employees had attached a GPS tracker within a box of cabinets. When these were stolen, the tracker led police directly to the offending people in Southwest Albuquerque. Read the rest of this entry »
