How long does the battery last?
The PT-8100 has a 2600 mAh rechargeable battery. In continuous motion it lasts about 10 hours, but because it sleeps when stationary it lasts much longer in normal use – roughly 20 days between charges when the tracked vehicle drives about 30 minutes a day.
How often does it update its location?
While moving, the PT-8100 reports its location every 10 seconds, plus each time motion starts and stops. When it is stationary it hibernates to conserve battery and checks in about once every 8 hours.
Do I need to install it?
No. The PT-8100 is completely portable and requires no wiring or installation. Just charge it and place it in a vehicle, bag, container, or on any asset you want to track.
