When making a purchase for goods\/services or any type, a fundamental requirement is trust.\u00a0 Do you trust the company you are about to do business with?<\/span><\/p>\n


\nSo why the rant?\u00a0 Well, it never ceases to amaze me how some other companies operate.\u00a0 Here is a prime example.\u00a0 Looking for an x-mas gift, I came across a website advertising a “demo” model for some fitness equipment.\u00a0 I contacted the company, who told me all about this particular product.\u00a0 They said, “It’s been sitting on our showroom floor, it’s never been used, and is in practically new condition.”\u00a0 The item was offered at a significant discount over a new item and since I was told it was practically new, I figured, I’d get the paperwork completed and finalize the sale.\u00a0 The invoice is sent and I review it.\u00a0 It showed a lead time of 7-9 weeks.\u00a0 So I call the salesperson to ask why it’s going to take so long for them to ship the item.\u00a0 He says, “we need to send the item into our production area where it will be re-manufactured and\u00a0 tested.”\u00a0 But, I say, why would it need to get re-manufactured and tested – when it is “practically new.”\u00a0 He goes on to say, that it will be 7-9 weeks, and that’s it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since I am calling a random business which I found on the web, I don’t really know if this company even has a showroom. \u00a0I’m thinking to myself, what this guy is really saying is…We have to order this from the manufacturer, we don’t have it in stock, and that is the real reason their is a 7-9 week lead time.\u00a0 But, he was insistent the item needed to be tested and re-manufactured.\u00a0 Really!\u00a0 The owner of that establishment should really look at the way he operates his business – because, he just lost a sale.\u00a0 I’m willing to bet that the problem is systemic across that business.<\/span><\/p>\n

So it all boils down to TRUST – at that point in the sales process – I lost all trust in the salesperson and the organization, I chose to take my business elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n
