At a Portland Land Rover dealership located on Northeast Grand Avenue, crooks made off with a few luxury, brand new sport utility vehicles.<\/p>\n

One of the Range Rovers that was stolen was found by employees by the end of the day. They said it was located a block away from the dealership, parked with a ticket on its windshield.<\/p>\n

Earlier that morning, Portland police came to the Northeast Grand Avenue Land Rover Portland dealership because of the high-end heist.<\/p>\n

Apparently, the burglars broke into the showroom and drove off with around 5 of the vehicles, according to employees.<\/p>\n

No comment was made by Land Rover Portland. Each Range Rover was worth over $100,000 at their site, according to the dealership’s website.<\/p>\n

Portland Police Bureau’s Sgt. Christopher Burley says it\u2019s an ongoing investigation and that at this time; the dealership doesn’t want information about the Range Rovers to be released.<\/p>\n

The crime scene was photographed by the Forensic Evidence Division that morning. No suspect descriptions have been released and it’s not for certain if there were any surveillance cameras at the dealership.<\/p>\n

Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association’s Greg Remensperger claims that when things like this happen, it’s really a shame. However, with GPS tracking, burglars don’t go far.<\/p>\n

On the Land Rover Portland’s website, it gives information about the ‘Stolen Vehicle Locator’ which is a type of GPS tracking device system<\/a> that helps on how to recover a stolen vehicle.<\/p>\n

It goes on to say that this technology works with police to find the exact whereabouts of your stolen vehicle.<\/p>\n

The SUVs, however, might not be recovered that easily, according to a local car security expert.<\/p>\n

GPS tracking isn’t built right into cars these days and they also don’t have Lo-Jack systems on them either, says Northeast Portland\u2019s Mobile West’s owner Peter Clover. You have to do all the legwork yourself and locate your own vehicles.<\/p>\n

GPS tracking devices really come in handy when it comes to car theft. They will give you the exact location of the stolen car and provide you with real-time data which will help you locate it and recover it quickly before thieves are able to damage it or rip it apart for parts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
