1.\u00a0 Identify what you are tracking<\/strong>. A vehicle, person, equipment, powered asset, etc.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t have an internal power source<\/strong>, like a vehicle\u2019s battery \u2013 you\u2019ll need a battery powered device.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Hardwired\/Vehicle powered trackers,<\/strong> also known as black boxes, are usually installed under the dash of the vehicle, out of sight. There are even gps trackers that can be plugged into your vehicle\u2019s on board diagnostic port \u2013 usually located on the driver\u2019s side compartment of the vehicle. The greatest benefit of a hardwired gps tracker is that they require no maintenance \u2013 once properly installed operation is automatic, this is probably where the the term Automatic Vehicle Locate or AVL was born.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 Battery powered tracking devices<\/strong> will at some point and time require you to retrieve the device and recharge the battery.
